o... since my last post this is what's been going on...Lindsae brought home that wicked Flu bug...and try as we did to keep it contained to her cute li'l self...she passed it on to her father, who nurtured that bug for a whole week and a half. And due to the perils of being sick, a couple of 'special holidays' were lost. Grant's birthday was one of them, so i decided to dig up an old photo celebrating his cuteness! Here's a clipping his mom saved from the FRONT PAGE of The Oneonta Star (NY) back on February 14, 1966. What a SUPAH-STAR and handsome too! ;-)
Next thing we lost was Lindsae's big 18th party. Since 18 is such a big thing, I'm trying to reschedule the party for March 24 (Easter Monday)...Let's pray it works out this time! ;-)
I did manage to make a few things for her party though before the flu hit. The first is a large canvas collage made from papers and embellishments using Feb and March's Kit from It Kit Studio. Beside each heart is written the name of a classmate from Lindsae's 2008 senior class.
First I sketched the shape of a tree on to the bare canvas. Then I tore 1 sheet of black paper into little bits and applied it to the tree shape using a brush and good old Mod Podge. Next I tore one sheet of green cardstock (kit) and applied it the same way. There are lots of cool stickers from 7Gypsies in this kit as well...so I added them vertically up the tree trunk. Also in this kit are several thick papers called Paintables from Prima. I chose the one with hearts and used watercolors to fill them in (markers or paints work well too). Then I cut 40 hearts out and applied them to the tree branches with Mod Podge. Last I embellished with Apha Stickers, and Stamps. The easy thing is that everything (except Mod Podge) was included in the Kit...yes, even the watercolors. How cool is that?
Next, I made her a 4x6 album to put photos from her party in. I also plan to have everyone there sign it. Again...everything is from the same kit I used above..and I have plenty of stuff left over!
One of my favorite tools to use lately is from Fiskars. It's a scallop border punch called Threading Water. I used it to punch the right edge of the album pages. Seriously, this punch is rockin' and is included in the March add-on Kit. You can't even get this in stores yet...so this is hot! Here is a close up.
