Deb & I have somewhat of a disclosure up front; we're suckers for people who consider plaid a color - but when a couple thinks that way? Priceless. More importantly, we should also admit that we've been over-the-top eager to be part of this couple's huge day since our very first conversation.
And speaking of first conversations, I guess it all started when I returned Rich's original phone call as they were checking us out. I don't know why I asked this question eactly like I did but I remember it like it was this morning; "...so, Rich, what is your fiancee's name?" - and this is the part I'll never forget, he said "Michael. Is that gonna be a problem?"
From that eact moment, I KNEW in my heart we all would become great friends and I was right. And the day Rich & Michael showed up for their
ESession at the Train Station in Richmond they immediately cemented that camaraderie by handing an epic NY Yankees cap to me, one they had personally secured at the Yankees vs. Red Sox (boo) game just days before in the Bronx. Talk about knowing eactly how to motivate your photogs to ROCK your session.
As we drove the curvy road that leads to the
Clover Forest Plantation in Goochland, VA on a puffy-white-clouded-bright-blue-skied-early-fall- afternoon we were giddy. Each curve brought new creative possibilities, and when we finally arrived to the huge gated and long driveway entrance to Clover Forest Plantation we shrugged our shoulders, looked at each other with grins on our faces and said "holy cow!"
And another thing we're suckers for? When our couples are giddy with excitement that we've arrived to capture their day - eactly as Rich & Michael greeted us. They walked us around the amazing property, up and down the expansive winding staircase of the Manor House as we entered room after amazing room our hearts became somewhat panicked with a "where do we start" feeling - it was that amazing.
The entire day was one classy event after the other, but for us I know the most amazing was to watch and listen to Rich & Michael share their true love for one another in front of family and friends. And to know we could be counted as the later touched us because by the time we were there capturing their day with our lenses we, in fact, were their friends.
Thank you Rich & Michael for your trust. Thank you for your honesty and your clear compassion for each other. Thank you for loving plaid as you do and for your sick ability to have creatively styled your entire day with it. Thanks for your friendship - we will always cherish it. But most of all, Rich, there's absolutely no problem that your fiance's name was Michael - I hope you always know that.
These are just a few - seriously - of our favs. Have a blast!
