I'm in the thick of editing these days before the holidays..but I had to laugh when I saw Kristen's Facebook status this morning. She had spent one hour last night, rolling out cookie dough, using her Christmas cookie cutters to make the special shapes and finally baking her little masterpieces in the oven. Suddenly a loud crash from the kitchen got her attention. When she ran in, there was Jack the dog eating all the cookies right off the baking trays! She ended the status post with an offer for a 'Free Christmas Labrador' to anyone interested, no questions asked. ;) And that's just how I envision Kristen handling life ... adversity into humor - my kinda gal.
It was after a surprise Engagement this year in April, that Kristen and Ian were on their merry way planning for their 2010 wedding like all happy couples do. It is not uncommon for couples to put many things on the back burner during that year, in order for the future bride and groom to stay focused on their wedding. Little did Kristen and Ian know that their entire wedding would have to be put on the back burner, when Ian was suddenly diagnosed with a serious heart condition. In fact, it was so serious that on October 9 (a mere 6 1/2 weeks ago!) he underwent open heart surgery! When we learned of all this young man, and couple had already gone through at such a young age we couldn't help but be in awe of their courage and strength. And today Ian has had a full recovery, resumed work and even endured frollicking through the fields with Kristen for their engagement session.
OK... so we didn't ask him to frollick... but the dogs did for sure! And speaking of dogs...you'll see that not only is Ian a survivor, but so is Jack the Dog... and currently still residing with Kristen and her delicious baked goods. ;)
Ian and Kristen... your story has truly inspired us in so many ways. Here is a sneek peek of our favs while we prepare the rest of your private gallery. Enjoy!
