I'm so excited to share our photos of Melinda and Nate's wedding from last weekend. They wanted us to wait until they returned from their honeymoon, so here they are!
Melinda and Nate were married on base at the Langley Air Force Base Chapel. It is a beautiful chapel inside and out...in fact, the whole base has such a cool Old European vibe in the architecture, that it was a joy to shoot a wedding there. It was also a joy to work with a bride who took time to really understand what she needed to secure in order to get the best photos of their day. She even chose the perfect hotel room, flooded with natural light, for her and her girls to get ready in. Melinda considered all these things so their photos would turn out beautiful. We love that!
So you can imagine our excitement when they told us they had decided to see each other before the ceremony for a "First Look." This is what we call the moment the bride and groom see each other for the first time. And yes, this goes against standard tradition... but there are so many benefits. It is done in a fairly private location just before the ceremony and it allows the couple to express to one another how they feel on such a special day and have a few moments alone when the rest of their day is brimming with family and guests. We often hear this ends up being one of their most cherished moments, and to have photos of this moment makes it even more special.
When I arrived at the hotel for Melinda and the girls, I was amazed at how tidy it was. And take a peek at those windows... the light was like butter as it flooded into the front of the room. Perfect soft light for a bride to get ready in.

This isn't a camera trick or special editing...Melinda is that gorgeous...and yes girls, those lashes are incredibly
REAL!

While the bridemaids continued getting ready, Grant arrived to drive Melinda and I to Langley. We had pre-scouted, and knew just the spot that we wanted to take her to see Nate for their "First Look". The forcast called for rain the whole day, and the skies remained cloudy, but I'm happy to say that not a drop fell from the skies till they were on their way to their honeymoon. ;)

I love the angle of this image Grant took.

I love that Nate just stood there admiring her... from head to toe, he took his time, savoring the moment with his eyes.

Such a special feel to this quiet moment between father and daughter, just before they walked the isle.

We're not usually all that enthused to take photos at the alter, but when you have a backdrop as gorgeous as this...you make it work. ;)

wow...I think our cameras were sad to see these two leave. Melinda and Nate...hope you enjoyed your Sneek Peek...thank you so much for the honor of capturing your most precious memories. ;)
