It was our super fab [always fun] Wedding Planner friend Lindsey Hocker from
Simply Perfect Events who introduced us to Kate & Stephen. When she called to ask us if we were available for their date and then dropped the "oh ya, btw, they're getting married at Tredegar Iron Works", we automatically went to the holy-cow-we-HAVE-to-be-open mode as we checked our calendars.
Kate & Stephen are BOTH doctors from Colorado [LUCKY], and we always love working with out-of-town couples; it happens quite a bit. But we actually got to sit down and get to know them in our studio (they came for a venue visit) and we immediately knew they were our couple (and hoped they felt the same).
We knew they weren't just interested in OK photography, or in an OK experience. They wanted more than just a few hundred "meh" pictures in an online gallery they could mindlessly scroll through. We knew they were interested in relationship and wanted more than people showing up on the day of just pointing and shooting wedding images. And we knew, for certain, they could tell the difference and could distinguish just good enough and fabulous.
And many times, it's the small things that let you know you're part of something special. Like Stephen, a South Platte River fly fisherman, staying up all night before the wedding meticulously wrapping fishing fly's (lures) for his groomsmen's (and groomsgirl) boutonnieres (you'll see them below). Or coming up together with Moscow Mule copper cups for their signature drink (and guest favors).
We're super excited to reveal some of our favorites below (and we apologize up front - there are a bunch of pics). But we're partial because we kinda fell in love with these two as we got to know them. Maybe you'll see why we knew, from the moment we met them, they were a
Grant & Deb Photographers couple.
