We've had to postpone publishing this phenomenal
Biltmore Estate Wedding for quite some time because of submissions. But it was published yesterday on
Artfully Wed's fabulous wedding blog, so we can finally release Robby and Wendy's amazing wedding images.
I can remember packing up our gear and traveling with Deb and Katie to Asheville, thinking... "
we are so fortunate!" After all, we get to be with couples on one of the most happy days of their lives; but to photograph that happy day at such an enormous and gorgeous venue as the Biltmore Estate? Maybe privileged is a better adjective?
The ceremony was held at the historical
Basilica of Saint Lawrencce in Asheville, NC. There's just something fantastically surreal about an old, well-kept cathedral with character. You'll see from the pics below what we're talking about; beautiful.
Honestly, it was such a treat to be at the Basilica of Saint Lawrence that the day could have ended there and been off-the-chain; but alas, it was only the beginning of this remarkable day. We left the cathedral post ceremony, and traveled to the
Biltmore Estate for the wedding reception and festivities (even just typing that makes my heart happy!).
And how do you adequately describe any wedding that ends with a full fireworks show over the Biltmore Estate? We have nothing, other than pictures, to do it — so that's how we'll end this fairy-tale wedding story (at the end of this post).
Barbara Anderson and her team at
Style Events did a magnificent job! Barbara, Kim, Ashley and Kaleigh worked seamlessly together and with the other vendors to make this weekend special. They transformed an already beautiful venue into a mesmerizingly magical experience for Robby, Wendy, and all their guests. We really didn't know where to start shooting because everywhere you looked was stunning detail after detail. From the large indoor tree decorated with crystals and name tags on its branches to a 300 square foot hanging floral arrangement above the bar, to the beautiful lighting of the tent; it was all breathtaking.
Then we want to give special props to our friend and colleague
Kim Wadsworth. Not only was she responsible for Wendy's impeccable style and beauty for the weekend, but while Deb was keeping Katie (our assistant) busy to photograph hundreds of details in the tent, Kim volunteered to be my human light-stand and carry gear so that I could roam the Biltmore's grounds with Robby and Wendy for their signature portraits. So with a light stand, a 3' octabox softbox and a heavy
Profoto B1 light, she followed, never complaining - always encouraging. Many of these images wouldn't have been so beautiful without her, so... thanks Friend!
Wendy & Robby, thank you so much for trusting us to tell your
Wedding Story; it was our true honor.
So — we're apologizing right up front... there are SEVENTY (something) images about to follow. But there was no way to eliminate any of them to paint this picture. We promise each are worth the time.
Here's a list of the stellar vendor team who made this day work:
