Pavitra and Nicholas were married in India this past December '08. Their ceremony was traditional, colorful and involved many weeks of preparations and celebrating with all their extended relatives. After an amazing honeymoon on the island of Maldives, they returned to the States but not like your typical married couple. They, in fact, live lives that only those in the medical field would truly understand. One in medical school here, and the other in Fellowship in Tampa...they live apart for now and communicate by phone, email, and the occasional visit. Talk about dedication!
That's how Grant and I came to know this sweet couple. Pavitra contacted us a while back and asked if we would photograph the reception they were having to celebrate with 400 of their family and friends they know here as well
(they had to narrow the guest list down from 1000!). And celebrate they did! In fact, this event was filled with so much amazing eye candy that I'm going to separate it into two blog posts.
These first images were taken in Downtown Richmond's Historic Shockoe Slip, and when I say that it was hard narrowing it down to a handful of our favs...it was.

We didn't have to give Pavi much direction, this girl was born for the camera!

Nicholas was truly more concerned about his friends and how they would make it back to the venue safely than about his own photos...and as the night went on, we discovered this caring, gentle nature was what everyone knew and loved about him.

then the girls arrived...all 10 of them!

...they were so genuinely excited for her.

...a sweet stroll around Morgan Fountain!

...and then a few stolen moments in a corner of their cherished Shockoe Espresso and Roastery.

...i love the feel of this one, as they walked out of the cafe!
...and be certain to check out PART II - the Reception HERE
